Microsoft has once again denied that there are any plans to cut the price of the 360 - at least, not before the end of 2006.
Rumours of a cut began to emerge as early as May, resurfacing in June and July - but each time, MS dismissed them. However, in August, the price of the Core system did drop from GBP 209 to GBP 199, with retailers claiming the initiative was driven by Microsoft and vice versa.
There has recently been speculation that a price cut could be on the way in time for Christmas, in a bid to give the Xbox 360 an extra boost as the Wii hits shelves worldwide and the Ps3 arrives in the US and Japan.
But speaking to SeattlePI.com, a spokesperson said there are "no plans to adjust the price of the Xbox 360 this year".
It would seem that the company is sticking to its guns for the time being, with more than 6 million consoles sold and a year's head start over Sony and Nintendo. There's also the fact that the PS3 has been delayed in Europe until March, giving Microsoft even more time to establish a healthy installed base over here.
Analysts speaking to SeattlePI.com agreed that a price cut for 360 is unlikely in the near future, with Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter explaining that the price gap between Xbox 360 and the PS3 gives Microsoft "the luxury of waiting".

This may be painfully obvious once you think about it, but for those who haven't, here's a way to get around the Xbox 360 country lock for downloadable content. Microsoft's chosen to disable certain game demos and game videos for people of certain regions, but we want all our media to be free, don't we? Go online to xbox.com and register a new gamertag with an email address not associated with any previous account. Then make sure you set your country to either Japan or America—perhaps making one tag for each. Then when that's done, go on your Xbox 360 and choose "recover gamertag" to grab the info from this tag onto your 360. Now you can see all the Japanese games you've been missing out on.

News: New Blue Dragon Scans!

In the latest edition of the Japanese magazine Famitsu, there are four pages of information on the upcoming game Blue Dragon

(however, the magazine is in Japanese unfortunately) and new scans.

For those of you who don’t know, Blue Dragon is the game that has pretty much put Japan on the map in terms of Xbox 360s. In Japan, there is a very nice 360 bundle including the core system, Blue Dragon, a Blue Dragon faceplate and a set of mini figures of the characters in the game all for only 29, 800 Yen (or $250).

Review: Ninety Nine Nights

My Personal Review:
This game reminds me of an MMORPG without the MMO. It most reminds of me of Ragnarok Online for the simple reason that you have to fight a bunch of random monsters (goblins, etc.) and gain items and level up. Ninety Nine Nights is a fantasy-type middle ages roleplaying game where you play as a great hero of the Knoght of the Light. I would also consider this game to be a strategy game because the missions often take many restarts to complete and you have to form a plan of action as to where your army will be, and how you will defeat the enemy. You can choose from 6 different campaigns each one can be accessed by completing the previous campaign. You and your army (you can choose what kinds of backup you want, like archers, heavy infantry, etc.) must defeat the evil doings of different armies... and that's what makes this game so much fun to play. The fact that you get to take on entire armies, sometimes even solo adds a whole new factor to the level of fun. N3 is like most of RPG's where you must kill to gain experience, items, levels, and new combo skills. 1 things that's different about N3 is that if you have ever played an MMORPG (such as RO, WoW, or GW) you know about mob-training or farming... that's exactly what this game is. You can easily reach over 1000 kill combos and thousands of kills (each mission varies). Usually I wouldn't rent these games for console gaming but I felt this game has redeemed itself in my view as a really fun and challenging game. One thing I really liked about this game was the RPG type feel and the mucho kills you can get. One thing I really hated about this game was that I really relied on a game guide to get through the game, and I hated restarting about 50 times for each single mission... starts to get annoying. -KURMYSTA

My Rating:
I give this a rating of 7/10.
The good things about this game are:

I love killing armies at a time.
Fun gameplay of leveling up and gaining items.
Very challenging, and took me quite a while to beat.

The bad things about this game are:

Might be a little bit too hard.
Hated restarting everything after I died and constantly restarting the mission 50 times.
I used it on a small tv and the text was hard as hell to read.

Microsoft on Thursday announced that it has sold 6 million Xbox 360 units worldwide amid first quarter losses in its Xbox game division.

The Xbox 360 dropped to U.S. retail in Nov. 2005 and in July, the company announced that it had served 5 million Xbox 360s in worldwide markets.

Microsoft's Entertainment and Devices division posted a $96 million in the first quarter ending Sept. 30, lower than the $173 million loss posted one year prior. In addition, Microsoft said that the division saw a 70% revenue increase from the previous year.

News: 360 Sales Break Sales Records in Australia

Xbox 360 has become the fastest-selling console in Australia, shifting over 100,000 units since its release in March this year.

The previous record was held by Sony, with PlayStation 2 selling 78,000 units during its first seven months on sale.

"Our figures show that Xbox 360 has been the fastest ever console to sell 100,000 units in Australia, reaching that mark in just seven months," said Daniel Morse, senior account manager at GfK Australia. With software sales amounting to 400,000 according to GfK, the 360 continues its strong performance in the region, where it also became the fastest-selling console at launch, selling over 30,000 units in just four days.

News: Microsoft Blu-Ray Ready

Microsoft has been a supporter of HD-DVD since the beginning, but at a recent press briefing, they told a reporter that if necessary, they can easily develop a Blu-Ray player that is compatible with the Xbox36o. I guess if Blu-Ray comes out on top as opposed to HD-DVD, Microsoft has thought of all of the options needed to quickly switch.

"One thing that was relatively new is the admittance of Microsoft that it is very possible to develop a Blu-ray player compatible with the Xbox360 system just like the current external HD-DVD player. This could be fun and it means that Microsoft still has the possibility to abandon a sinking ship without too many difficulties"

News: Analysts say Xbox 360 Keeps Lead Until 2010

This is great news for all you 360 fans. According to International Development Group, the 360 will keep a high installed user base than the other two next gen consoles through to the end of 2010.

IDG just released a 3rd quarter report on the gaming industry, and gave some of the info to Next-Gen.biz. The report predicts hardware and software sales across all of the next generation console formats in the United States and Western Europe through to the end 2010.

As you will note from the graph below, the Xbox 360 and PS3 grow at relatively similar rates, with the PS3 starting behind because of its later release date. Nearer 2010 the PS3 catches up to the Xbox 360 though. The Wii also seems to start off slightly stronger than the PS3 at launch.

News: Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Now on Live for Download!

Midway on Monday announced that Ultimate Mortal Kombat has dropped to Xbox Live Marketplace on Xbox 360 for download.

The 1995 arcade style game offering features 22 fighters, 2 vs. 2 combat mode, and a new challenger versus mode that includes tournament elimination rules for up to four players.

The game s available on Xbox Live for only 800 points. I’m almost tempted to say that this Live Arcade title is looking a little more interesting than some of the latest offerings we’ve had in the fighting genre.

My Personal Review:
At first this game struck as me as the exact same as the GTA series, especially San Andreas. However when I actually played the game and got into it I did notice the similarities but the differences are what stood out for me. This game is more concentrated on the street and gang aspect of the game whereas San Andreas is more crime, mafia, and specific missions. I thought the gameplay in the beginning and how they got you actually into the game was pretty well done. I had a difficult time sometimes with shooting however because the aim is on the right joystick and sometimes its weird running and trying to aim at the same time. I felt even though aiming was tough you do eventually get better during more complex missions with different weapons. I have always been a huge fan of the GTA series and this being so close makes it a definate fav for me... but would a chruch really have a gang? What's with that? If you liked San Andreas, pick up this game because it will keep you busy for quite a while. While sometimes it does get frustrating and difficult to complete the missions, the relief after finishing it is that much sweeter in the end. -KURMYSTA

I give this a rating of 8/10.
The good things about this game are:

Introduction into the game is very cool and easy to learn.
Excellent cinematics and graphics!
I loved playing this game on Xbox Live! Gangsta Brawl is the best.

The bad things about this game are:

Resembles San Andreas a lil' to much.
Missions are tough and restarting all over again sucks, but they are doable.
Weapon aiming is hard.

News: Xbox 360 Wii-Like Remote!

The controller battle between Xbox 360, PS3, and Nintendo Wii just got a little more complicated. British peripheral developer In2Games has unveiled a new controller codenamed Fusion which promises Wii like motion sensitivity and works with any USB compatible machine.

In other words, it could plug right into a PS3 or Xbox 360. Is the technology that makes Wii so unique about to become commonplace among all the next-gen consoles?

IGN witnesssed an early demo and seemed to think that with sports games, the new Fusion controller might actually top Nintendo's controller.

When In2Games showed off an early tech demo in central London this week we were certainly impressed. A tennis game created especially for Fusion and the accuracy and ease of use of the controller: to serve simply lift the baton up and strike it down quickly as you would in real life (watching out for light fittings when playing in a room with low ceilings), while playing a passing shot is as easy as playing a fore- or backhand pass. Additionally you can add spin or slice the ball by angling the racquet as you would if you were playing on centre court, the position of the face affecting the shot on screen. Better still the game comes with a racquet head add-on, a 10-inch hoop-shaped sensor that clips onto the end of the baton to enable you to play shots more realistically than with any nondescript remote.

My Personal Review:
Normally I don't like FPS (first-person-shooter) games that much because I guess I just have not really played that many... well that's a lie I used to play doom and duke nukem but I guess I just really haven't given them a chance. So one day I was in the Rodgers store near my house about my phone and I decided I would rent Quake 4 just because the cover looked cool (not a recommended way of shopping for games). I was pleasently suprised as I put in the game and I was shocked to see some amazing cinematics with a very interesting dramatic plot to get you right into the game. The graphics in this game are simply amazing. You start off with a bunch of fellow marines and you have to work your way through the sometimes extremely hard, almost impossible missions. In fact most of those missions were won thanks to the cheats I found while Googling. I really enjoyed this game because it's storyline is so vivid and interesting to follow. I especially liked how the storyline and even some cinematics are playing while you play the game. I felt there could be more weapons but overall my favourite was the lightning gun or the dark matter gun to completely zap the aliens. I would highly advise that you go out and rent or buy this game to add to your collection because it has suprisingly been added to my list of top games. I did feel that the levels were kind of confusing because each room had like 30 doors you couldn't go through, the switch is hidden somewhere, or you have to jump over something. Overall I would say this game kicks some serious ass, and it's a must have for your 360 gallery. -KURMYSTA

I love the storyline, very creative and dramatic.

Confusing rooms inside the levels, random places for switches and no real guide as to where to go.

Needs more weapons... I am not satisfied with 8!

My Personal Review:
Just when you thought this game couldn't possibly get any more interesting and fun... it does. Skateboarding gets a hundred times better this time round in the latest series of Tony Hawk's amazingly fun and unique skate games. With the ability to flip while walking, run up walls, and tons of new tricks, you can get to places you never thought possible in older versions... After all that's where the best stuff to combo off of is. I really enjoyed this game because I have always been a long time fan of the THPS series and this game just prooves to be another great hit. The most awesome part about this game is that your goal in story mode is to make the ultimate skatepark, taking peices from around each different level. Best of all, even better then the huge skatepark, is that you can skate literally forever. There is no loading times between levels. I think that's a great plus to the game. While this game was quite good and I really did enjoy playing it, like THUG2, I beat the story mode in like 2 days since I bought the game. It is quite easy, however there are lots of challenges as well as classic mode to keep you entertained after you create the ultimate skatepark. -KURMYSTA

I give this a rating of 9/10, because of the series' repetitive industry-setting standards and unique gameplay.
The good things about this game are:

Totally new and unique ways to get around different levels using flips, and new tricks.
The ultimate skatepark when complete will help you make those multi-million point combos.
Many challenges to keep you entertained.

The bad things about this game are:

Graphics seem a little, dated...
Story mode, like Tony Hawk's Underground 2, can be beaten in just a few days.
As always the game is pretty unrealistic however some say that's what makes it fun.

Konami and Microsoft are teaming up on a Pro Evolution Soccer 6 Xbox 360 premium hardware bundle, due out on 27th October priced GBP 299.

The full package consists of an Xbox 360 premium console (including one wireless controller, 20GB hard drive, 30-day trial for Xbox Live Gold, headset, component HD AV cable with SCART adapter, and ethernet cable) along with a copy of the game.

The bundle will be available in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Nordics, Austria, Switzerland, Netherlands, Portugal and Greece.

GQ and urban vinyl/sneaker community site, Freshness, have collaborated to bring FUSED to the GQ Taiwan concept store. Named "A Decade of Deluxe", the hip shop currently has 10 unique, artist modified Xbox 360's on display, and now up for auction at Yahoo! Auctions Taiwan.

Artists such as Dave White, Phunk Studios, the 123Klan and sneaker customizer SBTG all contributed some strong work to the line, the sale of which will benefit the World Vision charity.

Even though Nintendo and Sony have yet to release there next-gen consoles upon the world, Microsoft is already developing on a successor to the 360. No specific details are known at this point but when asked about a follow up to the 360 in a video interview with online gaming site Kikizo, Chris Lewis, the head of Xbox Europe, went on the record saying, "you can't sit back on your laurels in this business--the consumer won't let you, the developers certainly won't let us. So that's happening right now."

News: 360 Bundles Sold Out in Japan

Sales haven't even begun yet and the pre orders of the xbox 360 bundle have been selling out. This is all thanks to the game Blue Dragon, a game by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's new studio. The bundle includes an Xbox 360 core system, an original Blue Dragon table calendar, a Blue Dragon faceplate featuring artwork by Akira Toriyama (Dragon Ball), and a set of five miniature figurines for 29,800 yen (around US$250). Microsoft is planning to produce 100,000 of the Blue Dragon hardware bundles with only 10,000 of them to include all the limited edition bonus material listed above. Apparently, nearly all pre-orders for the limited edition bundles were sold out the first day it was offered. Pretty cool stuff... I know I would buy one.

My Personal Review:
Great fun snowboarding game. I have played all three versions and all three are awesome and fun. One thing I absolutly hate about this game was the cinematics. Can we say confusing? I couldn't follow the storyline at all and the jump from character to chatacter was hard to follow and grasp what was goning on. The controls took a bit to get used to but overall it was a great game. The campaign was also a little on the easy side however it does have it's challenges. Great game if your an avid extreme spots gamer like my self. It does include realistic jumps and somewhat realistic trick performance as well as tons of features such as snowmobiling, tubing & sleding, and snowskating... which is always fun... Kind of like the San Andreas of snowboarding -KURMYSTA

My Rating:
I give this a rating of 6/10, despite the confusing cinematics.
The good things about this game are:

Fun atmosphere for snowboarding, including many objects, rails, jumps, tables, and other things to do tricks off of.
Excellent gameplay, realistic tricks.
Many challenges to keep you entertained.

The bad things about this game are:

Horrible cinematics. I couldn't understand what the characters we're and what they we're actually doing and at times, even saying.
Cartoony, unrealistic and unforgiving character graphics.
Fun lasts about a week then you finish the game and play a different game... Addition of Xbox live play would be awesome and would make me give it a higher rating. Oh well. ;) maybe in Amped 4, which I am looking forward to.

My Personal Review:
This game is like nothing I have ever played before, except for like something you would find in an arcade about zombies, but a whole town... literally... a whole town of zombies are after you as you run through the mall taking pictures as a reporter and at the same time trying to survive. The storyline is very creative and kind of reminds me of that movie Dawn of the Dead for some reason. Overall the graphics are pretty good, the gameplay is awesome but I think there should be the option to run faster rather than the current speed because come on... my grandma can out run him. I really like the fact that you can pick up pretty much anything in the mall and use it as a weapon to kill the zombies. If your into killing zombies, horror, or a weak form of a first person shooter check this game out.

Good concept for a game, TONS of killing zombies.
Use pretty much anything as a weapon.

The graphics could use work. It kind of looks like the GTA: Liberty City Stories for PSP graphics... I payed ~$500 for these kind of graphics on a next gen console?
Cant run...Very slow running speed..
Missions are quite challenging but are possible.
